Moxie 2000 Super Patch is a high strength, cementitious mortar for patching or resurfacing concrete, masonry, wood, or asphalt surfaces above and below grade. It is suitable for floors or walls, stucco, gunite and shotcrete repairs.

 

Description:

Moxie 2000 Super Patch is a high strength, two part, polymer activated, modified portland based patching and repair compound material ideal for general use, crack repairs or the re-surfacing of concrete surfaces.

Composed of a laboratory-controlled blend of special portland cement, fine aggregates, liquid bonding agent and specifically formulated admixture, Moxie 2000 Super Patch exhibits excellent workability and aesthetics.

Non-flammable, with outstanding strength and handling abilities, Moxie 2000 Super Patch is suitable for vertical and horizontal applications, but not suitable for overhead repairs.

Moxie 2000 Super Patch may be applied feather edged to a thickness of ¾”. The patch material is durable and will not shrink or crack.  Due to its polymer modification, Moxie 2000 Super Patch improves abrasion, durability, and adhesion.

    

Crack Repairs Using Moxie 2000 Super Patch

Coverage/Uses:

A 70 lb. unit of Moxie 2000 Super Patch mixed with a 50/50 mix of clean water and binder to desired consistency will yield approximately 1 cu. ft. of ready-to-use patch.  Ideal for resurfacing concrete floors, steps, concrete curbs, gutters, parking decks, highways, or where a high strength, waterproof concrete mortar is specified.

Limitations:

Do not apply Moxie 2000 Super Patch under 40° F or 50° C or when temperature falls below 40° F or 50° C within 24 hours. For applications greater than 3/4" add up to 15 lb. of clean pea gravel per 70 lb. pail Moxie 2000 Super Patch. For below-grade, CMU, or porous block, refer to the Moxie 2000 Super Patch cut sheet.

Troweling is slightly more difficult than standard concrete. Certain solvent containing coatings should be avoided (contact Moxie International). Do not store the binder under freezing conditions; it must be discarded if frozen, 32°F or below. Do not over-trowel.

 

Before Application:

All areas must be cleaned and free from oil, chemicals and loose material. For increased durability and even load distribution from traffic, area should be slightly under cut, roughened and free from all deleterious material and standing water. Shot blasting or scarifying is also recommended.

Area should be primed with binder using a brush. Binder should be applied to overlap the area to be patched. Apply patch while binder is still damp an has a “greenish” color. Do not apply if binder has dried, re-prime area.

 

Surface Preparation:

Surface to be patched must be free of all loose, foreign materials especially oil and grease. (Moxie 3000 Super Soap to clean surface, Moxie 1600 Cleaner Sealer to seal).

 

Patching mortar:

Mix thoroughly 9 parts of dry material (by volume) with 1 part water. Then add 1 part of the white liquid binder (for example, 9 ounces dry mix, 1 ounce water; then 1 ounce binder). Mix thoroughly to get a patching mortar of proper consistency for troweling (it will be on the dry side).

 

Waterproof/vapor proof patching mortar/slurry:

To produce a water and vapor proof, below-grade, patch or slurry mix for retaining walls, CMU and porous block mix 1 oz Moxie 1800 Super-Admix per 10 lb unit in addition to the above mixing instructions.

Moxie 2000 Super Patch with the addition of Moxie 1800 Super-Admix cannot be removed from brick or CMU once cured. This mortar residue must be removed as it is being applied. This is particularly critical with the application of Moxie 1300 Brick Sealer. If this mortar residue is not removed it will produce efflorescence.

 

Surface primer:

To make the surface primer use a small amount of binder, diluted with an equal quantity of water (50% water, 50% binder) for priming the surface as described under application.

 

Application Procedure:

1. Dampen surface with water, mist, spray bottle or mist with Hudson sprayer.
2. Using a paint brush, apply the surface primer (diluted binder) to prime the surface.
3. Take a small amount of patching mortar and brush into the primed area, working it into any cracks, pits, or crevices.
4. Apply the remainder of patching mortar to pre-treated area.
5. Trowel like regular concrete until desired finish. Keep troweling to a minimum. If surface appears hard, sprinkle with water and complete your finish.

 

Note:  Keep tools clean with water. Moxie 2000 Super Patch will PERMANENTLY bond to tools.

Note:  Application of Moxie 1500 Concrete Sealer or Moxie MFSII Concrete Floor Sealer can be made 24 hours after patch has been applied. Because conditions and situations vary, a longer time is recommended when possible.
